Sekonic L-398A Offers

A favorite with cinematographers, this light meter features a pure analog needle and exposure dial system, which offers at-a-glance exposure combinations. Get accurate and reliable incident measurements with its swivel head and lumisphere or lumidisc that provides the lighting information necessary for lighting setups.

Features

  • Instant reading of a full range of aperture/shutter combinations: The analog dial gives you a full range of exposure settings for both still and cine applications at a single glance, and the analog needle indicates the brightness in foot-candles
  • Amorphous photosensor eliminates the need for batteries: As a light receptor element, the amorphous photosensor is newly adopted, and it is not necessary to bring replacement of batteries
  • Swivel head to position incident dome and maintain full view of display
  • Continuous reading plus needle lock for easy and accurate readings
  • Lumidisc for adjusting illumination contrast and measuring illumination intensity
  • Lumigrid for measuring reflected light (30° light receiving angle)
  • Memory pointer retains prior reading

How to use

  • Step 1: You can set ISO in the ISO indicator window by rotating the ISO sensitivity selector knob.
  • Step 2: Pressing the measure button causes the meter needle to deflect according to brightness level. When the measuring button is released, the needle stops at a fixed position indicating the measured values.
  • Step 3: Foot-candle values can be read on the foot-candle scale measurement scale. Rotate the dial ring to set the scale mark to match the foot-candle value on the dial scale.
  • Step 4: Once the foot-candle scale value has been matched with the dial scale, any of the corresponding shutter speed and aperture combinations will provide the correct exposure.

Applications

  • Cinematography
  • Photography
