The SMARTach™ III Encoder is ideal for applications where a large diameter through-shaft is required such as large motor and brakes. It allows shafts to pass through the encoder up to 7 7/8", facilitates motor-encoder-brake sandwich construction, as well as hollow shafts for water or air cooling systems to pass through the encoder. To prevent encoder failures the electronics are completely sealed with no moving wearing parts and sensors are placed 4x farther from the rotor compared to other brands to avoid sensor/rotor grinding. The encoder also is safe against any miswiring with full output short circuit, reverse voltage and surge protection.
