AFL S018318 Offers

The 45S cladding alignment fusion splicer is transforming the fiber splicing process in small to mid-fiber count applications. This Fujikura splicer introduces a groundbreaking enhancement by enabling the simultaneous preparation and loading of both fibers. The handheld fiber coating stripper, SS-05, efficiently strips two 250 μm coated fibers in a single pass, complemented by the CT-16A cleaver adapter plate, which can cleave two bare fibers concurrently. Post-preparation, the patented sheath clamps of the 45S facilitate loading both fibers simultaneously into the splicer, with one fiber in each hand. The user can effortlessly close the sheath clamp base by pressing down, allowing for convenient one-handed operation while positioning the fibers in the v-grooves.

Moreover, the 45S sheath clamps are intricately connected to the wind protector. Upon completion of the splicing process, opening the wind protector automatically releases both sheath clamps, facilitating swift sleeve positioning and transfer to the tube heater. The 45S tube heater excels in rapid sleeve shrinking, outperforming its predecessor with a nominal heat time of approximately 20 seconds for 60 mm sleeves, down from the previous ~26 seconds. The concurrent capability of fiber preparation, automated sheath clamp opening, and a faster tube heater collectively contribute to a reduction of over 30% in the overall fusion splicing cycle time.

The 45S enhances user experience through advancements in fiber placement, battery access, and machine ergonomics. In previous models, an error would occur, necessitating manual intervention if the cleaved fiber was inadvertently set beyond the electrode centerline while using sheath clamps. The 45S, however, can now automatically correct this mistake by reversing the fiber to the correct position. Featuring a compact cube form factor, the 45S is effortlessly portable and adaptable to space-constrained environments. Its adjustable screen mitigates glare from the sun and accommodates unconventional splicer positions encountered in challenging splice locations.
